Pete Luczak (AUS) had a tough first round against A Clement (FRA), going down 46 63 62. Luczak had his chances but struggled with his first serve percentage and backhand on key points.

Rajeev Ram (USA) struggled to find his rhythm against D Koellerer (AUT) losing 6-1 6-3.

Kevin Anderson (RSA) had a great tournament, qualifying and taking down B Phau (GER) 63 63 in the first round. Anderson had a close second round against J Isner but lost to the in-form 15th seed 6-3 7-5.
