Known around the tour as Bogie, Alex is entering his 10th year on the ATP tour after a successful 2011 season. Athleticism runs in his family, his grandfather was a gold medalist in Handball as a captain/coach for the Soviet Union. Father, Alex, Sr, was a former Russian national tennis player and coach who worked with Larisa Neiland, Yevgeny Kafelnikov and Andrei Medvedev.

Bogie started with an amazing Junior career having won the USTA National championships in 1998 defeating Andy Roddick in the finals and being number one ranked USTA player in 18s in 2000. He reached pro status and earned world class wins over players such as Tommy Haas, Mardy Fish, Robin Soderling, James Blake, Fernando Gonzalez and more. Returning from a serious injury Bogie ended 2010 with his First Challenger win in over 3 years at JSM Champaign Challenger 50k .

In 2011 Bogie took his tennis to another level! He defeated Andy Murray (ATP#4) to make the round of 16 at the Sony Ericsson Super 9 ATP world masters event in Miami. He also made round of 16 in Cincinnati masters, quarter final at Newport, Hertogenbosch, Zagreb, semi finals of Los Angeles, 3rd round of Wimbledon and the U.S. Open
